Thoughts on Father's Day

Tomorrow is Father's Day and I was thinking about my Dad. He is a great Dad, fun to be with, great to travel with, and always there to help when you need him. He isn't the type of Dad that "fixes" things, as a matter of fact I am not sure I have ever seen him with a hammer or screw driver in his hand. But he is the kind of Dad that listens and gives great advice, he is the type of Dad that you can always turn to in a crisis.

My parents were divorced when I was ten, so for many years I really didn't spend all that much time with my Dad, but as I grew older we have spent more and more time together, talking, laughing, discussing politics, watching him do his crossword puzzle each day, marveling at how he still loves to cook, and just being so happy that we are able to spend time with him.

We won't see him tomorrow, but hopefully we will be able to get up to see him soon and I can give him a big hug and kiss then. Happy Father's Day to you and yours!

Here is my Dad when he was a young child, many, many years ago (he is the one on the far right, the oldest)
